Now the latest iPod touch has capacity of 64 GB flash drive which is massive storage to store thousands of songs, videos and other things that a iPod user want to keep on their iPod. Still if there any mishaps occurred then no one wants to lose the data that are stored on the iPod and to prevent the data loss situation, you need to make the backup when you think you have enough files stored over your iPod and want to store it on your other storage devices like Mac or Windows PC. Of course you can transfer the files from iPod to your computer using iTunes.
iTunes come with lots of features and one of the feature is to transfer files from PC to iPod and vice-versa. It works well with the small size files but if you start to transfer complete iPod of enormously huge file then it has been seen many times that it will give error messages, freezes and make your computer unresponsive. Another issue is that if you are transferring videos or TV shows which are more than 4 GB in size to your computer HDD which has FAT 32 file format then you will encounter the “Error Code 1309” error message.
The limitation with the FAT or FAT 32 drives is that these have the file size limit of 4GB. It means you can not transfer a single file whose size is more than 4GB. So you will need to find other ways to perform the operation. For this you can reformat the hard drive partition with HFS+ file system if you are running Mac OS X on your PC because on HFS+ there is no any limitation of 4GB file limit. If you are a windows user then you need to reformat your drive in NTFS file format to get rid of this 4GB file limit error message.
You can also connect your iPod to a HFS+ volume computer system and backup all the files by transfer them on the computer and from there you can use some file splitting utility to split your video to small forms and then rejoin them on the first computer where you actually want to keep them stored. But it is a very tedious process that needs a lot of skills too.
If you have windows system with a FAT 32 drive then first take the backup of this drive to another drive or external drive. Then reformat it in NTFS file format. After that you can use the iPod File transfer so that you can transfer the files from iPod to PC fast, securely and without any problems that may occur in the iTunes. After that restore, files that you earlier saved in another drive. iPod File transfer will be a perfect solution to transfer files to and from iPod and it will work every time without any problems. This way you will never see the Unexpected Error Code 1309 again.
