iTunes Update and Restore Alert Messages with iPod Touch

Apple has provided an application named iTunes to update and restore your iPod and other devices like iPad, iPhone etc with iTunes. It is a well build application that updates and restores files to and from iPod, iPhone and iPad. But problem can occur sometimes when you are trying to update or restore your iPod Touch with iTunes and the update or restore process stops. Solution
You can start with updating the latest version of iTunes. For that you can try
1. Windows – Help > Check For Updates
2. Mac – iTunes > Check For Updates
If there are updates available then install update and then try to restore again. If you don’t have an active connection then also you get the alert that the iTunes update server could not be contacted. So first resolve your internet issues and then attempt to update again.
Sometimes the error may just occur like a fluke and a simple restart can solve this problem. So you can also try simple restart and then again restore device to iTunes.
When you are updating the iTunes then you should open the required ports to allow access to the Apple Servers. Port 80 and Port 443 are some important ports that need.
Another issue can be with the USB cable that you are using to connect the iPod touch to windows or Mac PC. The USB 2.0 ports are preferred over a hub and you should connect then to the rear USB ports. If still the problem persists then,
- Remove all USB devices except keyboard, mouse and iPod
- Remove all USB hubs and connect the your iOS device directly to computer and if your display has a USB connection then disconnect all the USB devices from it
- Connect your devices directly to included USB cable and bypass the dock
- Restart the PC
- Try restoring the device again in iTunes
- If available test with the alternative good USB cables
You can also restore your iPod Touch to different computer where the latest iTunes version is installed. Other than that you can try restoring with the different user account of the pc. If still the problem is then uninstall iTunes and re-install the latest version of iTunes from Apple Website.
